What are ChristCare Small Groups?
ChristCare is a ministry of small groups, usually 3 to 12 people each, that meet regularly at church or in homes. All groups are facilitated by leaders who have gone through extensive training. ChristCare small groups are caring, confidential circles of friends – with Christ at the center – where you can safely share your joys and concerns, while gaining a new perspective on God’s presence in our daily lives. The groups are generally formed around a topic, but stress care and community, prayer and worship, Biblical Equipping (Bible study) and mission service to others. Each group creates a covenant that includes the purpose of the group, time, location, and duration of meetings, some restrictions on discussions (no politics, no gossip), and a pledge to be respectful and courteous toward others’ feelings and opinions. Lastly, the covenants include a promise of confidentiality, wherein “what is said in the room, stays in the room.”
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…” Hebrews 10:24-25
“Carry each other’s burdens, and this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

What are some FAQ’s?
Why do we offer ChristCare groups? To provide a safe, authentic environment for participants to experience the love of Christ and to be in a caring community, to pray and worship, to study the Bible, and to offer missional service to others.
How often/long do ChristCare groups meet? Most groups meet weekly or every other week, usually for 60 – 90 minutes per session. Some groups meet on an ongoing basis while others, such as the “One Book, One Season” groups meet for a more limited five to six week term.
Are groups open or closed? Generally groups are open to anyone who wants to sign the group’s covenant, as long as there is space. Some groups are closed by the nature of the group topic. An example of a closed group might be: “Person’s With Family Members Facing Substance Abuse Issues.” You are encouraged to inquire about any group that you are interested in joining.
How do I join? Please contact the small group leader (contact information is posted on the ChristCare bulletin board in the church’s welcome area), one of the ChristCare Equippers, or call the church office at 203-438-8077.
We’re always eager to start new ChristCare groups with themes that will appeal to others. If you have an idea for a group topic, please let the ChristCare Equipper Team know, and we’ll see if we can get such a group up and running. Or we may suggest an existing group that’s a good match for your interest and schedule.
