"What would Christ do?"

The First Congregational Church and its members actively follow the example of Christ with its mission efforts

Board of Missions ~ Midnight Run

Mission Overview

Midnight Run is a consortium of more than one hundred churches, synagogues, and schools in the metropolitan area. Three or four nights a week, volunteers travel into Manhattan; there they seek out the homeless poor. They deliver clothing, food, blankets, and personal care items. In the process, they try to break through the barriers of prejudice and fear that try to separate us into artificial categories of "homed" and "homeless".

Throughout the year, the church collect coats and other clothing to provide to the homeless in New York City. Twice a year, members make a "run" to distribute the clothing as well offer food and hot beverages to those often overlooked in New York. The trips last most of the night and are an exhilarating and moving experiences.
