Board of Missions ~ Heifer International
Mission Overview
Ending Hunger, Caring for the Earth - Heifer International learned over the years that a holistic approach is necessary in order to build sustainable communities. So it has developed a set of global initiatives - Agroecology, Animal Well-Being, Gender Equity, HIV-AIDS, Microenterprise, Urban Agriculture, and Young People's Initiative - areas of emphasis that must be addressed in order to meet its mission of ending world hunger and poverty and caring for the earth. Each year the children of FCC lead the church in a Heifer project. This year's project, beginning March 22, 2009, is "Chickens For Hope" and the goal is to buy 100 flocks of chickens, half of which will go to an international site and half will stay in the United States to help families living in the most extreme poverty.
Becoming Involved
Each flock of chickens is only $60. Please join the church school in buying flocks of love. If you have other questions regarding First Congregational Church's support of Heifer International, please click here.
