Housatonic Habitat for Humanity
Mission Overview
Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, is comprised of people working together to build homes for the inadequately sheltered in the greater-Danbury area. Housatonic Habitat renovates and/or builds simple, comfortable homes with the help of volunteers filled with compassion and the future homeowner families.
Construction is a partnership between volunteers and the future homeowners, who work 400 sweat equity hours, buy the home sold at no profit, and pay a no-interest mortgage over 20-30 years. Housatonic Habitat continues to partner with families through the duration of their mortgages to assist them in being responsible homeowners, good neighbors, and contributing members of their communities. These families achieve the American Dream of becoming proud homeowners while responsibly maintaining a wholesome place to raise their families.
First Congregational Church provides volunteers for building projects in the area.
In the fall of 2004, a home was dedicated on Patch Street in Danbury that was entirely sponsored by the church. The funding and much of the labor was provided by the congregation of the church and the new homeowners expressed their appreciation in the emotions they shared at the dedication ceremony.

Financial Support
If you are interested in financially supporting Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, you can donate electronically or please write a check in the amount you care to give to First Congregational Church and note in the memo field the gift should be used toward the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity mission. The check can be placed in the offering plate at any worship service or can be mailed to the church office: First Congregational Church, 103 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877. 100% of your gift will be sent to the mission and all donations are fully tax deductible.
