Interim Senior Minister ~ Dr. Brenda Stiers
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CALLS NEW INTERIM SR. MINISTER

The Executive Committee of the Church Council is pleased to announce that the Reverend Dr. Brenda Stiers has accepted the call to serve as our new Interim Senior Minister. Dr. Stiers brings a wealth of ministerial and administrative experience to First Congregational from her 30 plus years in ministry.
In her role as Executive Minister of the Riverside Church, New York City, from 1994 to 2000, Dr. Stiers oversaw the revitalization of many aspects of their program initiatives and ministries. In her most recent position as the Executive Director for the Greenwich CT. YWCA, she implemented and led long range planning which included completing a capital campaign and organizational restructuring around programmatic excellence.
Dr. Stiers has experience which is wide ranging. She served the Council of Churches and Synagogues of Fairfield County, first as Associate Director, then as Executive Director from 1982 to 1994. As an Adjunct Lecturer at Yale Divinity, Dr. Stiers coordinated their Ministry and Gerontology Programs. She has experience in working with and ministering to the older population as she served as director for both the Greenwich, CT Commission on Aging and the Sage Program in New Haven, CT, an advocacy program for older adults.

Dr. Stiers enjoys hobbies which also excite many in our congregation. She lists golf, reading, theater, opera, walking and travel as strong interests. Rev. Stiers will officially begin her ministry at First Congregational Church on November 25th.
