This site is owned and operated by The First Congregational Church of Ridgefield Connecticut (The Church). Your privacy on the Internet is very importance to us. We want to make your online experience satisfying and safe.
We do gather certain types of information about Members and Friends who may use certain features of our web site. Therefore, we feel you should understand our privacy policy and the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of this information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather and how we use it.
The Church may gather two types of information from Members and Friends:
- Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These could, for example, include requests to receive our electronic newsletters, participation in our message boards or forums, e-mailing a Church member or friend, or participation in polls and surveys.
- Information users provide when making contributions to the Church when using our On-Line Giving system.

E-mail links and responses policy:
- Our Members and Friends may choose to use the First Congregational web site to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking an e-mail link or button. Users usually provide their email address, as well as that of the recipient. This information is used only for the purpose of sending the email and, of course, to let the recipient know who sent the email. The user's email address and any related information is not used for any other purpose, unless specifically stated.
On-Line Giving
Our users may choose to use the First Congregational web site to make contributions to the First Congregational Church. During the process, users are asked to provide personal information including name, address and similar information as well as credit card or checking or saving account information. Critical information such as credit card numbers and account numbers are encrypted with leading encryption technology. This insures that this information can not be viewed or read by others.
SSL Certificates enable the security capabilities of our web server. This capability secures transactions and data communication over the web, ensuring that information that is transmitted over the Internet is secure. Information used for such transactions is not used for any other purpose, unless specifically stated.
"Cookies"
- Cookies are small text file that are stored in the browser files of your computer. The cookie is used to save information on your computer and is used to help you move from one web screen to another. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Currently, the First Congregational web site does not use cookies.

Only authorized individuals have access to the information provided by our Members and Friends.
