Deacons ~ Activities / Events / Calendar
Activities
In addition to Worship Services, the Deacons are involved in the life of our Church in a variety of ways. Among other roles, Deacons work with the Committees, Ministries, Boards and other groups within the Church and support a wide range of activities and programs:
Worship Services Special Services Weddings Tape Ministry Acolytes/Greeters Chancel Guild Liaison |
Funerals Communion for Shut-ins Prayer Ministries New Members Classes Membership Parish Calling |
Mentors to Confirmands Parish Nurse Long Range Planning Deacons' Fund Baptism |
Major Events
The big events for Deacons are the special services surrounding and including Christmas, Easter and the reception of new members in to the church. The Tenebrae Service at the close of the Maundy Thursday Service is a solemn and truly moving service in which all Deacons participate.
Another major initiative carried out every few years by the Deacons is Parish Calling.
It is the Deacon's Ministry responsibility to contact each family within the Church family to check in on their needs and to verify and/or encourage their continued involvement in the life of the Church.
