Children's Ministries ~ Missions
Our Sunday School sponsors various mission projects each year. All mission projects are connected to our Christian teaching and are supported by our Mission Board.
In the spring each year, the children donate funds during Lent for Heifer Project International. Heifer Project International (HPI) is an international organization providing animals to needy families in underdeveloped countries. The Project begins with an announcement made in the Church Sanctuary by the children and ends with a celebration day including live animals. In this way the children can appreciate what their charity giving can achieve. HPI gives families a chance to support themselves through this Gift of Life. Coupled with HPI is an annual bake sale.
Each Sunday School class also selects a mission area to support throughout the year. Missions include: Midnight Run, AmeriCares, Pivot House, the Dorothy Day Homeless Shelter, Amos House and HOME.
The younger classes keep in touch with our elderly and shut-ins with cards and small gifts.
